The appearance of Brix mini-PCs last spring was Gigabyte’s debut in this market segment. The first products were elaborated specifically for Intel Ivy Bridge processors. However, the company decided to update the line of ultra-compact PCs with four new models. Entitled GB-BXCE-2955, GB-BXi7-4500, GB-BXi5-4200, and GB-BXi3-4010, the products are characterized by the support of power-efficient Intel Haswell CPUs.



The most efficient model is Gigabyte GB-BXi7-4500 with the integrated Intel Core i7-4500U processor (1.8/3.0 GHz), whereas the least efficient turns to be Gigabyte GB-BXCE-2955, based on Intel Celeron 2955U (1.4 GHz). At the same time, Gigabyte GB-BXi5-4200 is equipped with Intel Core i5-4200U CPU (1.6/2.6 GHz) and Gigabyte GB-BXi3-4010 comes with Intel Corei3-4010U solution (1.7 GHz).


Except for diverse CPUs, all four Brix mini-PCs feature practically analogous specifications:

SilverStone is about to release a standalone solution – a PC case with 8 bays for NAS or HDD/SSD subsystem. The CS380 boasts sleek design and is made of steel & plastic. Featuring 487.5x426.5x215.3 mm dimensions, internal layout is targeting ATX motherboards with up to 7 expansion slots. The recommended retail price makes up 121 EUR.



SilverStone CS380 comes fitted with three 120-mm fans: one is situated on the rear panel, while the two others – on the side panel. Their ultimate rotational speed approximates 1200 RPM. The chassis supports PS/2 ATX power supply units, 241-mm long graphics card and 146-mm high CPU cooler.


One of the key attractions of the NAS case is the frontal panel. It looks like a door with a lock which hides 8 disc bays, the external I/O panel with two USB 3.0 ports and two 3.5-mm audio jacks as well as a Power button. Colorful, a Chinese developer of graphics solutions, unveils some details about its new graphics card, codenamed iGame GTX 650 Ti Buri-Slim. The most peculiar thing about this card is that it takes only one slot within a PC case, if compared with similar models from other manufacturers. The model's design resembles the one implemented in a 2011 release (iGame GTS 450 Buri-Slim).



Colorful iGame GTX 650 Ti Buri-Slim is based on a non-reference printed circuit board; the latter is a bit longer than reference GTX 650 Ti. Hardware base deserves special attention, since it's been given a note of originality, despite being a part of the entry-level adapter. Instead of traditional solid-state capacitors Colorful implemented POSCAP capacitors. Power subsystem is organized according to 3+1 template; it employs high-efficiency transistors designed by ON Semiconductor.
